A paper based on LD Miller’s Ph.D. dissertation work–“Cluster-Based Boosting”–has just been accepted to the IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering. Congratulations! Congratulations to LD Miller, who successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation on November 17, 2014! His dissertation title is “Cluster-Based Boundary of Use for Selective Improvement to Supervised Learning”. Our Aida project was featured on NET, Nebraska’s NPR! Here is the multimedia. Our new project has been up and running for the past few months now. This is a collaboration with Dr. Liz Lorang of UNL Libraries and Digital Humanities. It is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Check it out here: Aida! Welcome to the new semester! Graduate Students: LD, Adam, Hari, Anish, Shilpa, Doug, Bin; Undergraduate Students: Greg, Xi, Maanas, Spencer! We have active projects: the Survey Informatics project funded by NSF CRN, the IDEASPERE project funded by NSF SaTC, the Ad Hoc Team Formation project, the Spectral Metadata Project, and the new NSF IUSE project on computational creativity. Let’s have a productive year. Another modeling paper based on our multiagent Computational ULM framework at ICCI*CC’2014: Shell, D. F., L.-K. Soh, and V. Chiriacescu (2014). Our collaborative work with Dr. Dasgupta of UNO is published! Jumadinova*, J., R. Dasgupta, and L.-K. Soh (2014). Strategic Capability-Learning for Improved Multi-Agent Collaboration in Ad-Hoc Environments, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics-Part A, 44(8):1003-1014 Adam Eck built a simulation system for multiagent systems, and here it is! Eck, A. and L.-K. Soh (2013). MineralMiner: An Active Sensing Simulation Environment, Multiagent and Grid Systems, 9:197-226. Adam Eck and I were at Paris, France to present our work at AAMAS’2014: Eck, A. and L.-K. Soh (2014). Online Heuristic Planning for Highly Uncertain Domains, in Proceedings of the International Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems (AAMAS’2014), Paris, France, May 5-9, 2014, pp. 741-748. The paper and presentation was well received! |
