VideoManager
and VideoManagerPlus
This VideoManager
capability was completed in October 2005.
This capability basically allows a user to manage video streams,
allowing the user to dictate whose videos would be broadcast to other venue
users, and allowing other users to request for their videos to be
broadcast. This capability allows an
instructor to choose which students’ videos to be shared and the number of
videos broadcast at any given time.
The
VideoManagerPlus capability was later completed in November 2005. Similar to its predecessor, the only
improvement is that it allows for actual blocking of video streams, cutting
down the video traffic in the venue effectively.
Specific
features of this capability include:
- Tiled video streams (based on CXP)
- Manager’s option on whose video
stream to be blocked/unblocked
- User’s option to request for his/her
video stream to be unblocked
- VideoManager: video streams “blocked” are still
archived digitally by CXP, allowing users to go back and review all video
streams afterwards.
- VideoManagerPlus: video streams “blocked” are not archived
digitally by CXP, allowing the system to prevent all irrelevant or
undesirable video streams from being archived.
Video Manager unblocked. The VideoMangaerPlus capability sends
normally when the participant is unblocked in VideoManagerPlus.
Video Manager blocked. The VideoManagerPlus capability is no longer
sending when the participant is blocked in VideoManagerPlus.
Video Manager unblocked. The VideoManager capability plays normally
when the participant is unblocked in VideoManager.
Video Manager blocked. The VideoManager capability is still sending,
but the capability viewer is no longer visible when the participant is blocked.
