GroupChat
This GroupChat capability was completed in August 2005, and was
later released together with the Conference XP Platform. This capability basically allows a user to
view incoming messages and to send messages.
In addition, this capability allows a user to manage different group
discussions and target specific messages for different groups. The capability automatically filters the
messages exchanged in the CXP venue for users in the proper group.
Specific
features of this capability include:
- Text-based forum
- View of messages
- Forum group management (join a
group, leave a group, register a new group, remove an existing group)
- Group-based message broadcast
- Individual user-specific messaging
- Review of group messages
- Multiple concurrent group forums
The GroupChat

In this form users can join or leave existing groups. They can also add or remove existing groups. Registered chat groups
shows which groups this participant has joined.
Create a new group form in GroupChat capability.
In this form users specify the Name and Description for new groups. Clicking on ok adds the new group to the
Available chat groups list.

in action. The message “Hello I-MINDS” was sent
multicast to all participants in the capability. Only members of I-MINDS group will display
the message as received text.
