Parallel & Distributed Computing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Traditionally, PDC concepts and topics are covered late in a computing curriculum and generally as a non-required elective. However, modern computing demands that these topics take a much more central role in computing curriculum. The cheapest of processors are multicore, IoT architecture makes even basic computing distributed by nature, and all consumer facing applications are expected to be asynchronous and efficient.
The PDC@UNL project aims to introduce PDC concepts early in computing curriculum by developing modules, demonstrations, visualizations, and other materials that are accessible to students in introductory computing courses by taking a codeless and code-light approach.
