Visa Issues and Letters

The site http://travel.state.gov  has information about obtaining a visa for those traveling to the United States, as well as links to websites for U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide. The embassy and consulate websites have very helpful information about procedures, timelines, communities served, required documentation, and fees. International registrants should be particularly aware and careful about visa requirements, and should plan travel well in advance.

If you are an AUTHOR of an accepted paper (regular or workshop), poster, demo, tutorial, or competition and need a letter of invitation for a visa to enter the United States, please follow the following steps:

  1. Fill out the following letter with your data. This is the letter that you request to be sent to you:

    FAX: [put your fax number here]
    ADDRESS: [put your address here]
    PAPER TITLE: [put your paper title here]

    Dear [Author],

    On behalf of the IEEE Computer Society, I am confirming that you will be attending the IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium (RTSS 2009). The conference will be held at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, D.C., on 1 December - 4 December 2009. The meeting is open to all those with an interest in the field of real-time and embedded systems. We are pleased that you will be attending to present your accepted paper at the meeting.

    We have received your RTSS 2009 registration form along with payment and thank you for your interest in participating in our conference.

    The IEEE Computer Society is an educational, non-profit organization, and is the world's largest and oldest professional association of computer scientists and engineers.

  2. E-mail the filled-out form in PURE TEXT to rtss09 (AT) cse (DOT) unl (DOT) edu.

    Please do not forget to include your fax number. The invitation letter will be faxed to you on official letterhead once your information is verified. If you do not indicate a fax number the invitation will be sent by return e-mail.
