CSCE 488, Spring 2003: Homework 3

Purpose: This is a team assignment. You are asked to review technical material (final project reports from previous senior design courses) and present the results of the review, as a team, in an oral presentation.

Assignment:

You will be given two written final reports from a previous semester of CSCE-489, as well as the course syllabus and the request for proposals (RFP) that prompted the project. For this assignment, you will work in teams of 3-4 students. Your objective is to prepare a critique of each of the reports you have been given. I suggest that you start with individually reading the syllabus and the RFP, then meet as a group to discuss the division of responsibilities and the timeline for completion of the assignment. Your critique should evaluate the total quality of the product, including but not limited to the following items:

1. An introduction or overview of the requirements of the RFP
2. The extent to which the reported project fulfills the requirement of the RFP
3. The clarity and readability of the written report as it pertains to explaining the project (i.e. how difficult was it to understand their design)
4. The completeness of the report relative to the items asked for in the RFP
5. A comparison of the two reports, addressing both the quality of the designs and the quality and credibility of the reports

You will present your results in an oral electronic presentation. The presentation for each team should be a single unified entity, not independent pieces. It must follow the presentation guidelines and speaking guidelines that were introduced in the class. Each team will be allowed 20 minutes to talk and 5 minutes for questions. Then within three days after your presentation, you will submit an evaluation of your and your teammates' presentation.
