CSCE 423/823 (Fall 2019) Extra Credit Homework Opportunities
- EC HW 6.1: Homework Make-Up
-
Your group may resubmit new solutions for up to four (in total)
homework exercises,
spread across any of this semester's first four homework assignments.
-
Each resubmission will be graded as the original one was, but
the maximum score you can get will be 75% between your original
score and the total number of points possible. E.g., if you got 10
out of 30 originally, you are eligible to gain up to 15 of those 20
missed points, so your resubmission could ultimately get at most 25 out of 30.
-
Your group's resubmissions should be sent via
Canvas, under the assignment
called "Homework Extra Credit."
As with all other homework submissions,
you are to upload only one pdf file for your group.
In that file, for each homework
exercise, you should clearly indicate the homework number and
exercise number that you are resubmitting. In your file, you
should sequence by homework number then by exercise number.
E.g., If you resubmit Homework 2/Exercise 3 and Homework 3/Exercise 2,
the first item should be Homework 2/Exercise 3.
In your submission, include the number of points that you received on your orignial submission, and the number of points possible on that exercise.
- EC HW 6.2: Take-Home Midterm Make-Up
-
Your group may resubmit a new solution for one take-home midterm exercise.
-
The resubmission will be graded as the original one was, but
the maximum score you can get will be 75% between your original
score and the total number of points possible. E.g., if you got 10
out of 30 originally, you are eligible to gain up to 15 of those 20
missed points, so your resubmission could ultimately get at most 25 out of 30.

- EC HW 6.3: In-Class Midterm Make-Up
-
You may resubmit a new solution for one in-class midterm exercise.
-
The resubmission will be graded as the original one was, but
the maximum score you can get will be 75% between your original
score and the total number of points possible. E.g., if you got 10
out of 30 originally, you are eligible to gain up to 15 of those 20
missed points, so your resubmission could ultimately get at most 25 out of 30.

Canvas, under the assignment
called "In-Class Midterm Extra Credit." As with the other submissions,
you are to upload only one pdf file.
In that file,
you should clearly indicate the midterm exercise you are resubmitting.
To get credit, in your pdf file, you should include a scan or photo of your
original submission to this exercise, with the grader's comments visible.
- General Rules
-
The academic integrity policy still applies; even though you're basing your
resubmission on discussion in class and/or the graders' comments,
you must put your resubmission in your own words.
If you copy
a solution from the Internet, a non-group classmate, etc., the academic
integrity policy will be applied as with the original assignments.
-
Grading will be rigorous.
Recovery of 75% of remaining points will happen only if the resubmission is
clear, concise, and complete. Vague or incomplete submissions will receive
fewer points.
-
No one in CSCE 423 may resubmit an advanced problem for extra credit.
-
All resubmissions are due by Friday, December 13, at 11:59pm, i.e.,
Friday of Dead Week.
No late submissions will be accepted.
