GC Image Users' Guide

New Features in Version 1.4

Some of the many features and improvements in GC Image Version 1.4 are:

Operations journals and undo. GC Image Version 1.4 records the sequence of operations performed on the image data. This record permits users to undo previous operations (in reverse order that they were performed). The operation sequence can be reported as a journal, formatted as a browser-accessible report.
Template mode and enhanced templates. With Version 1.4, GC Image has new facilities for creating, editing, and using templates to identify chemicals from the peak retention-time pattern. Templates now can include geometric elements — points, polylines, rectangles, and polygons — as well as chemical peak elements.
Selection tool. GC Image Version 1.4 has a tool for building and applying selection expressions with functional operators for retention times and mass spectra.
Click-and-drag region-of-interest. In GC Image Version 1.4, a region-of-interest selected by click-and-drag with the right mouse-button is scaled and resized to fit the Viewport.
Group processing and viewing. In Version 1.4, GC Project supports automated processing of a user-selected set of runs. GC Project also allows users to select and view a group of previously processed images.
Importation of Agilent CH and Thermo ASC files. GC Image Version 1.4 implements importation of Agilent CH and Thermo ASC files. GC Project recognizes Agilent CH files within named .d directories.
Improved template matching. GC Image Version 1.4 uses a more flexible and robust template matching algorithm.
Three-dimensional viewer control panel. With Version 1.4, GC Image has a control panel for the three-dimensional viewer.
Improved mass spectrum viewing. GC Image Version 1.4 allows intensity to be expressed as absolute, relative, or percentage values; permits sorting by mass-ratio or intensity in the tabular view; and supports scaling in the graphical view.
Text view export. GC Image Version 1.4 can export values from the text view into a text file in comma-separated-value (CSV) format.
Polyline peak selection. In GC Image Version 1.4, blob mode supports selection with polylines.
Exclusion flag. In GC Image Version 1.4, peaks can be flagged so that they are excluded during reporting (which is useful for dealing with solvents and bleed).
Graphics objects and metadata. GC Image Version 1.4 adds two new graphics objects: points and polylines. Graphics can be marked for inclusion for reporting. Graphics objects can be individually colored.
Select all. GC Image Version 1.4 allows selection of all graphical objects, blobs, or template objects (depending on mode).
