Fill this out completely. Your submission will be sent only to you and the instructor, and the authors will later receive their feedback electronically with all names removed. Since the authors do not know who submitted which evaluations and they are to help the students improve their writing skills, you should be constructively candid.

Follow these guidelines when grading the topic summaries:

  1. The maximum score is 10.

  2. The topic summary must include 5 parts:
    • (a) An overview of the "big picture" of that topic;
    • (b) A description of what you feel are the most and least interesting results related to that topic;
    • (c) 2-3 questions on material that the author did not understand from the readings and lectures;
    • (d) 2-3 interesting research ideas related to this topic;
    • (e) A detailed description of one subtopic (e.g. when summarizing neural networks, the author could provide extra detail on the Winnow Algorithm).
    Anyone who omits (b), (c) or (d) will lose 1 point for each omission.

  3. Grade on the writing style and mechanics (e.g. spelling, grammar, run-on sentences).

  4. A higher grade is given if the grader is convinced that student understands the material well.

  5. The author does not need to cite the textbook or the lecture notes, since it is assumed that these are sources for all topic summaries (any other sources used must be cited, however). Of course, if the author does cite the textbook and/or lecture notes, it is fine.

  6. Graders are required to answer students' questions in part (c). The grader will be downgraded for not attempting to answer the questions, but won't be downgraded for incorrect answers.

  7. You are to submit the grade and your comments below.

  8. Finish grading within one week after you receive the files.
