Since we were talking in class about the impact of the memory hierarchy and how there is some variation in the number of caches, I thought this article would be interesting to anyone that wants to see the practical impact of the different memory configurations: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/athlon-l3-cache,2416.html.  It compares two AMD processors, one with and one without an L3 cache, in a variety of application benchmarks.  It also contains an overview of different real-world cache configurations, and all the details you would need to know about the two CPUs compared.
