GC Image Users' Guide

Installation

GC Image software, Version 1.3 (September 2003), is distributed for installation on computer systems running a recent Microsoft Windows operating system, e.g., Windows NT (Service Pack 5 or later), Windows 2000, or Windows XP. The suggested minimum hardware configuration is a 1000MHz Intel Pentium 4 (or comparable) CPU, 512MB RAM (1024MB RAM is preferred, especially for GCxGC-MS), and 32MB video card (64MB is preferred, especially for GCxGC-MS) with 1024x768 color monitor. GC Image software requires relatively little hard-disk space (less than 200MB), but images processed by the system (including the example images distributed with the software) may require large disk capacity.

GC Image software system is bundled in a single, self-extracting executable file named setup.exe. When executed, the setup program will install the software in the directory specified by the user and will add a link to GC Image in the Start->Programs list and a shortcut on the desktop.

To install the GC Image software:

  1. Insert the CDROM.
  2. Execute setup.exe from the CDROM.
  3. Specify the folder for the software.
To install GC Image, the user must agree to the software license terms and conditions.

After the GC Image software installation is finished, the setup launches the installer for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) MS Search (Version 2.0) Demonstration Program, with the demonstration subset of the NIST/EPA/NIH Mass Spectral Library. In order to use the NIST MS Search software with GC Image, the user must agree to the terms and conditions of the NIST software license.

To test installation, execute the GC Image software from the Start->Programs, from the user-specified directory, or from the shortcut on the desk-top. When the GC Image software is first executed, it will display a license number and request a license key. To obtain a license key, contact Zoex Corporation, with the license number.

To exit the GC Image software, select Exit from the File menu.

The installation also creates a program for uninstalling the GC Image software (removing all of its files). The uninstall program is located in the directory where the GC Image software is installed.
