Web Handin Description Version 2.0
|
Web handin is a web-based program for handin in homework assignments.
It has the following features.
-
Organizes the submissions according to assignment number,
platform, and student. A directory called webhandin
on the class account will contain numbered directories for each
assignment. In each numbered directory will be a file record
which logs every file that is handed in, and a directory for
each platoform that was used to hand in. Currently the options
are Windows, Linux, Solaris, and IRIX.
In the platform directory are directories for each student's files.
The instructor can turn this option off by specifying a single
platform to hand the files in under, and this platform can be
different than the 4 options.
-
Allows the instructor to specify deadlines and cut-offs for
handing in, which are enforced. (This is optional)
-
Creates backups of files that are handed in multiple times.
If a file is handed in that was previously handed in, a directory
called Old_files is created, and within that directory will
be new directories created each time a duplicate file is handed in.
These directories will be named based on the handin times of the
duplicate files.
Note: If a user hands in files multiple times using
multiple platforms, they are treated separately. That is,
if a user hands in the same files using platform Windows
and platform Linux, the user will have two handin directories
in the obvious places.
For information on how to set up webhandin, instructors should
go to Webhandin Setup.
