Abstract

We will start with brief descriptions of some research projects at MSR India. We will then go into some detail on certain research questions we have been pursuing in the areas of theoretical computer science and cryptography. Finally, we will discuss the specific topic of Fourier analysis of Boolean functions and some recent work in that area.

Speaker Bio

Satya Lokam is a Senior Research Manager at Microsoft Research in Bangalore, India, where he leads the Cryptography and Complexity areas of research. His research interests in cryptography include digital signatures, anonymous credentials, attribute based encryption, and more generally encryption methods that combine security and functionality. He is also interested in computational and communication complexity, especially lower bounds using algebraic tools. Before moving to Microsoft Research in 2006, Satya was a faculty member at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He received his Ph.D. from The University of Chicago and held postdoctoral positions at University of Toronto and Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
